How Capt. John fished it
- 2-fly rigs behind 10" BTIs on divers; 3-fly rigs behind 12" flashers on the deepest rigger. "The deep rigger with meat is always the most productive."
- 2-fly spacing: 12" from the bead chain to the first fly, 12" to the second, a swivel, then 14–15" to the meat head.
- Short strikers: late-summer "biters" hit high and slap at baits; the snelled tandem trebles turn those bites into fish.
- Depth: meat shines in 38–44°F water, often 80–125' down in late summer.
